Kontroversi Tasauf Tanpa Nama: Studi Tentang Pemahaman yang Bertentangan dengan Fiqih Umum pada Pengajian Desa Pakapuran Raya Banjarmasin

Abstract

This study aims to examine the controversy arising from the understanding of tasauf (Sufism) without a name, which contradicts mainstream fiqh teachings, in the religious gatherings led by Guru Yadi in Pakapuran Raya Village, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. This phenomenon is of interest because, although tasauf has deep roots in Islamic tradition, the interpretation taught by Guru Yadi is considered to differ from the more widely accepted practices of fiqh in the local community. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research seeks to understand how this nameless tasauf is received by the community and how these differences affect their views on daily religious practices, particularly in relation to the performance of rituals and fiqh-based acts of worship. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with Guru Yadi, several participants in the religious study group, and local religious leaders. Data analysis was carried out by identifying themes related to the differences between the tasauf teachings of Guru Yadi and the general fiqh principles accepted by the community. The findings indicate that, although Guru Yadi’s teachings do not carry a specific name or label, the tasauf he teaches contradicts several fundamental aspects of mainstream fiqh, particularly with regard to ritual practices and teachings deemed deviant by some scholars and members of the community. Despite this, Guru Yadi's followers in Pakapuran Raya Village view his teachings as a more profound spiritual path, unconstrained by formal fiqh dogma. This study provides insights into the dynamics of religious understanding at the local community level and how differing interpretations can create tensions between esoteric tasauf teachings and formal fiqh practices. Additionally, the results contribute to the study of tasauf in the context of Indonesia’s plural and multicultural society, particularly in understanding the variations of religious teachings at the grassroots level
