Abstract

Based on the results of initial observations on November 7 2023 during research at Rahmatillah Islamic Elementary School, initial data was obtained that students at Rahmatillah Islamic Elementary School were not yet motivated towards Islamic Religious Education lessons. Apart from that, it is suspected that many Islamic religious education lessons involve memorizing verses from the Koran so that students do not pay attention and pay attention or students are less motivated in learning Islamic religious education. Motivation to learn PAI among students and efforts to generate motivation to learn is a complicated problem for teachers at the Rahmatillah Islamic Elementary School, Banjarmasin. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the research results found about how students are motivated to learn PAI at the Rahmatillah Islamic Elementary School, it is stated that there are 6 students from class IV who lack motivation to learn PAI. In learning PAI, when the teacher explains the lesson they don't pay attention, don't want to ask questions if they don't understand, go in and out of the class when the teacher is in, some of them even get sleepy when the teacher is explaining the lesson, and most of the students say they don't like it. memorizing, they also said that the difficulty when learning PAI was when they were asked to memorize.
