Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies used by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers to overcome learning fatigue in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Banjarmasin and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. The study employed a qualitative field-research approach involving SKI teachers and students, with data collected through classroom observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that teachers combine cooperative, inquiry, and interactive expository strategies with group discussion, question-and-answer activities, concept mapping, contextual explanation, and instructional videos. These strategies increase students’ participation, attention, motivation, and willingness to engage with historical materials that are often perceived as dense and memory-oriented. Supporting factors include adequate learning facilities, varied instructional methods, student interest and discipline, and support from homeroom teachers, whereas barriers include differences in students’ comprehension, passive participation, extensive memorization demands, time constraints, and technical problems with instructional media. The novelty lies in identifying a contextual, multimodal, and adaptive strategy configuration at the elementary madrasah level in which teacher variation is treated not merely as methodological diversification but as a deliberate mechanism for preventing fatigue and sustaining meaningful engagement in SKI learning
