Abstract

Implementation of the character education curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects is a systematic effort to develop noble morals and shape Islamic character in students. This article outlines the main objectives and approaches used in implementing the curriculum. The main objectives include developing noble morals such as honesty, tolerance and social care, as well as strengthening students' religious identity through understanding and practicing Islamic values. The implementation approach involves the integration of Islamic values ​​in daily learning activities, the use of teaching methods that emphasize moral reflection, and collaboration with the school community and families. Thus, the implementation of the PAI curriculum not only teaches religious aspects, but also plays an important role in forming a holistic character based on Islamic values ​​in order to produce a generation with noble and responsible morals in society. This research aims to study the implementation of the character education curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects at SDN 004 Sangatta Utara, motivated by the moral crisis that is increasingly occurring in society through corruption, violence and other unethical acts. This shows that there is a need to strengthen the character education of students not only in terms of academic abilities but also in terms of morals and character development. This research uses a qualitative approach with case study methodology. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations and documentary studies. Participants in this research included PAI teachers, school principals, and students at SDN 004 Sangatta Utara. Based on the research results, it was concluded that the implementation of the character education curriculum in PAI subjects at SDN 004 Sangatta Utara was successful even though there were still several obstacles. This research is expected to contribute to character education in elementary schools, especially the development of PAI subjects.
